What is Universal Call Blocking?
The CRTC is mandating all Canadian telephone service providers to block incoming calls that have non-conforming caller ID information. Universal Call Blocking (UCB) will block telephone numbers that don’t comply with North American or International numbering.
Mornington Communications will be implementing UCB by December 19, 2019.
Please contact our Support team and provide the incoming phone number and the date and time of the occurrence. Our team will investigate the reason for it being blocked.
Yes, Universal Call Blocking will work on both landline and IP phones.

No, the CRTC mandates the service covers all telephone customers.
Phone numbers that don’t comply with North American or International numbering plans are typically non-conforming. Numbers with more than 15 digits or 000 000-0000, 111 111-1111 are examples.
Numbers with non-conforming caller ID information will be blocked from ringing our customer’s lines. For example, you may have noticed a local phone number calling you that ends up being a telemarketer or spam call.
