Universal Call Blocking
What is Universal Call Blocking?
The CRTC is mandating all Canadian telephone service providers to block incoming calls that have non-conforming caller ID information. Universal Call Blocking (UCB) will block telephone numbers that don’t comply with North American or International numbering.
How will Universal Call Blocking affect me?
Numbers with non-conforming caller ID information will be blocked from ringing our customer’s lines. For example, you may have noticed a local phone number calling you that ends up being a telemarketer or spam call.
How can I tell if a number is non-conforming?
Phone numbers that don’t comply with North American or International numbering plans are typically non-conforming. Numbers with more than 15 digits or 000 000-0000, 111 111-1111 are examples.
Do I have to subscribe to the service or can I opt out?

How much is this going to cost me?
Nothing. Universal Call Blocking if free of charge.

Will UCB work on IP phones too?
